Central High School Reviews

MYSP is an absolutely excellent program, along with IB. The teachers are extremely understanding. They also help with extra-curricular activities. The bi-weekly show CI (Central Intelligence), which is put together by the Media II students, is amazing. They have won numerous awards. I would definitely recommend this school!!!

I will be a junior at Central High School in the fall. For parents who are considering sending their children to Central, I cannot recommend it enough. Out of all the high schools in Springfield, Missouri, Central equips its students for college the best. Boasting the only International Baccalaureate Programme in Springfield, along with Advanced Placement options. MYSP allows students to become prepared for high school better than any middle school option in Springfield, especially preparation for the I.B. program. In MYSP, the students write an involved research paper. This puts them at an advantage above other freshman - none of them have composed a research paper of this size. If your student decides not to take part in the I.B. program, his or her education will be just as wonderful. They will be surrounded by competent teachers that really care about their students and a great enviroment full of diversity.

I am a central student that has been put in the custedy of the state and central is the only high school that i want to go to. the school has so many different races that make it hard to not like some one of that race. Go Central Bulldogs!!!!!! I love you all!!!!

Central High School is a great school. It has many extracurricular activities avaviable and is also home to the MYSP program. Plus the band teacher is the best! Central is the school you want your kids attending. I rate it 10+!

We love Central. I wouldn't choose anywhere else! It's wonderful!

I do not go to Central yet, but upon being accepted into the International Baccalaureate Programme, I was invited to shadow an IB student for a day. At first I was scared, because all of my friends told me it was 'scary' there, but they were so wrong! I had a wonderful day. The halls were less crowded than those of my middle school, which has a population half the size of Central! The teachers were so laid back and easygoing, I felt like they were more like close friends than teachers, yet I still learned so much. And the food was superb, a definite plus! Overall, I found CHS to be a welcoming, friendly environment, and I plan on having a great high school experience there!

Central High School is a very close-knit community. The teachers love being there, and that makes the students want to be there as well. Because Central is a smaller school than others in the area, students can be involved in as many activities as they desire.

I am a sophomore at Central. I started at the beginning of October. I moved back here from Oklahoma. And I noticed that us Missourians are much nicer! I missed being here. And Central was the perfect choice for me to go back to school at. I wouldn't dream of going to another school. The people are awesome and reall accepting. And I love being on the debate squad. The teachers (most of them) are excellent. I enjoy all of my classes. And I love the school in itself. I love the history., along with the new additions to it. This has been one of the better choices I have made!

Being at Central has been an amazing experience for my sister and I. We are only freshmen (Pre-IB), but we have been going to Central for the past three years as middlers, and we cannot imagine going anywhere else. Not only is the renovated building wonderful, the classes are incredible too. But the greatest thing about Central is the people there. The teachers are great, and there is a strong, diverse student body that is very active in school and school activities like drama, choir, debate, and athletics. The student leadership in the school is exceptional as well, and there is always something fun going on. Overall, going to Central has been a wonderful experience for us and we are greatly looking forward to our next three years there.

My daughter is a junior in the IB program and my son is a freshman at Central; he's not IB, he just wanted to go there even though we actually live in the Kickapoo District. The IB program is wonderful and my daughter couldn't have had a better experience so far in high school. Regarding the building, they have renovated the older part of the building (the first high school in Springfield) and added a new part, all very nice. My daughter is involved in drama; the auditorium is lovely and the school plays are amazingly good. My mother went to Central in the fifties and we appreciate the historical aspects of Central. It's also right across the street from a public library and from Drury University.

I attended high school (class of 2001) and loved my experience there. The teachers are phenomenal and the diverse student body is really something to brag about. With the Middle Years program and the International Baccalaureate, the education can't be beat anywhere in Southwest Missouri. I am proud to say that I am a graduate of one of the best high schools in Missouri!

When asked where my daughter goes to school, I am extremely proud to announce Central. The education available from the awesome faculty and staff is superior, but the young adults that attend have to be some of the best people I have ever had the pleasure of calling friends. If you attend Central you are very privilaged.

The Middle Years Scolars Program at Central High School is an incredible program for profoundly gifted students in grades 6-8. The opportunities that the children are exposed to in the high school setting and curriculum are truly valuable to their educational needs.
