Parkview High School Reviews

If you want to be successful after high school in all aspects of the word then Parkview is the high school to attend...but high school is what you make it. I have seen students from parkview go on to prestigious universities and be very successful, witnessed top ranked speech and debaters become all americans, and have heard of countless award winning programs that are among the best in the state. On the other hand I have seen students who despite attempts do not reach out to the resources Parkview has to offer. This school has been incredibly successful in giving students the resources necessary to really achieve in life. I have a feeling that those who complain about the quality of the school would complain wherever they go and have not given the effort. Trust me when I say that with the willing, Parkview has turned 'water into gold'.

I'm a former student of Parkview. I spent all four of my high school year there and I love this school so much that I am going to go back and teach there. This school used to have some problems with security but thanks to Chance Wistrom all or most of those problems have been taken care of. As with all schools there are those few teachers who have no clue what they are doing but Parkview makes up for those with their amazing staff. Many of the teachers here are willing to help their students with anything. For instance Stephanie Blake is always there for her students she teaches physics and coaches color guard, but some how she manages to find time to help students with a wide range of other activites. These are the kind of people that set Parkview apart from the rest and make it the best.

Parkview is improving now that they have air-conditioned years after making the kids suffer in high temps, which led to many behavior problems. Now the kids think they may actually have begun to care about them. Still there is bullying problems there and high drop-out rate.

I think Parkview is getting better and better all the time! One of the things that did impress me at Parkview was how many staff members attended Parkview themselves and loved it so much they wanted to teach and or work there! The staff I have met love this school and are very dedicated. The location is beautiful and the new addition is exceptional! Go Vikings!

I graduated from PV last year and have now come to realize that it, along with the vast majority of schools in Springfield, do not prepare you for college life unless you plan on attending OTC, MSU, Drury, Mizzou, or a similar college. I had about two or three good teachers while I was there. Because of this I am now at a significant disadvantage in college. There are some great activities to become involved in and because there is not much competition among students it is fairly easy to succeed. Everyone there is very friendly, however, and it was always a positive environment in that sense. at

Parkview has an extremely diverse community of kids as well as a brand new building. It is true that some of the classes arent't challenging but that is only if you take the easiest classes that parkview has to offer. Parkview has Ap classes, Honors classes and a number of college creedit classes as well. This classes are extremely challenging and require a lot of responsibility on the students part. The school also has a strong sense of school spirit. It doesnt matter if your preppy, gothic, emo, or a jock, there is a place for you at Parkview, where everyone comes together as fellow Vikings!

The only good thing about the school is the diversity and building-which is in very nice shape-although built like a maze and impossible for new students. I am a junior here and cannot wait to move to get out.

Except for one teacher and one vice principal I love Parkview. I would like to see more involvement from the parents and students with re-guards to sports.

I am a currently a junior at parkview and am extremely dissatisfied with my experience here. The teachers do not push the students at all, their idea of a challenge is assigning more worksheets. Their is NO discipline the kids run the show. For the many interesting courses that parkview offers there are teachers who are overloaded and have no passion for the subjects. There are a couple of good things though, it is very laid back and few cliques, there are a few out standing teachers, and the art and debate programs are outstanding as well. However, i feel like i have experienced the best of what PKV has to offer and it is not enough to keep me from transferring to GHS for my senior year.

I am a parent of a Freshman student for the academic year 2006-2007 and I would just like to say that I am very please with ParkView so far. I am very impressed with the young new Principle. I do believe he is going to make a huge difference in ParkView. He seems to have the right stuff for the job

I am currently a junor at parkview and have no major complaints. This school has been an aswome place to learn and mature. Despite a small number of taechers who have no remote idea of what is going on, the staff is wonderful. The out of school activities are pretty fun and extensive. Due to its extreme diversity it has better perpared me for the real world. I'm glad that I attend parkview for these reasons. And the new building is aswome and really brings Parkview into the 21st century.

This is the high school for everyone who wants to know cool people , have awesome teachers , and great staff in general. You just can't beat parkview.

Great school. Strong history. Diverse. Wonderful academics. A community. A solid winner.

I am a student currently attending Glendale high school, but I went to Parkview for my freshman and sophomore years. I will definitely be returning to parkview for my senior year, mainly because I miss the enviroment. People are much more friendly, and everyone gets along at Parkview. Also, Parkview offers Photography, which is a very rare class in Springfield Public schools. I am definitely looking forward to returning to Parkview next year to graduate.

I am a student at Parkview High and I have never been to a more better school in my life. It might not be the nicest looking school in the district but we have just started building a new wing for the school, and we're also remodeling the whole school just after the new wing is done. The music and sports department are a good part of the school, I'm currently in Marching Band and Baseball and I love it. I am just happy that I can finist the school year at the best high school in Springfeild, Missouri. Thomas Webster

I am a student here at Parkview and I will graduate in 2005. I think that this school is one of the best schools in the district. There may not be a lot of money to put into each and every subject to make the classes better, but there is money that is going to the school to make the whole thing better. The school is going to be made into a better learning environment for all the students here at Parkview. I found out today that Parkview has gotten the award of Outstading school designation beating out all the other schools in the district except for Pershing Middle School. So to anyone that doesn't think that Parkview is a very good school you need to take another look and give the teachers and the classes a chance.

I attended Parkview, and other than it being hot during the summer I believe it was a wonderful school. I think that the teachers as well as the rest of the staff make the best with what little they are given to work with. As for all the bad reviews, I feel those are just negative people. Sure things could be better, but better cost money and all you people that vote no eveytime the school asks for money have not right to complain later. I think that every member of the staff really cares, and it is amazing to me. They get paid bad, deal with rude students and parents and still show up the next day. I think it is a great school and people need to learn to look for the best in things. Out of all the people who complained nobody offered any ideas to make it better.

I am a current student attending Parkview High. The school provides great diversity which brings a rich and fun enviornment to the school. The exta-curricular activities that Parkview provides are excellent and provide something for everyone with every interest. The teachers have a love for what they do, though they get frustrated with their careers like any other person. The students at this school form bonds with teachers which makes this time in our lives all the better. Of course everyone has those days where you just dont want to go to school, but you'll find that anywhere. The most important part of Parkview is that you really are recieving a excellent education in a friendly enviornment. I know when I look back at my years at Parkview High I will remember them as some of the best!

I am a former student (1993)and found Parkview to be a wonderful school for those that wanted to make something of themselves. My four younger siblings have also passed through Parkview (one still there) and I am horrified at the state of the school now. Drugs are everywhere, security is virtually non-existent, and teachers that do care end up leaving. The Public School System needs a serious overhaul, including very strict diciplining of some officials. My husband and I would rather home-school our children than to trust them to the faulty system that Springfield calls schools. While a single school receives adquate support others get left behind. I don't want to risk the roulette.

I really don't know anything about the school now, but as a graduate I was terribly disappointed by the posted reviews. When I attended (1974 graduate), we liked to think of Parkview as the flagship of the public high schools in Springfield. It had every type of extracurricular activity you could imagine & many of these, e.g. the debate team, were known well beyond the city's borders. As for education, it offered something for everyone - those who were on the college prep track, to those who would never darken the door of higher education. It provided me with a wonderful education upon which to base my future. Yes, it was abysmally hot because of the windows, but we made do. Yes, there were classes which the teachers absolutely could not control, but there were also wonderful classes with teachers who wanted their students to expand their minds. Which classes the students gravitated towards depended upon what they were looking for. I suspect that despite the intervening years, these things still have not changed.

I graduated from Parkview and I disagree with the negative reviews given. Yes the school is very hot without a cooling system but as far as the faculty goes they are very caring about their students. They will go out of their way for the students if the student cares enough to get help. If a student isn't going to try at all then why should the teacher waste time when he or she could be helping another student instead. It isn't always the teacher's fault. One teacher could have many students in his or her class so it would help the teacher out if the parents took some responsiblity to make sure the students are doing their homework. The teachers will even go as far as to help the students with problems that don't even relate to school which, in my opinion, is above and beyond their call of duty. Maybe everything about the school isn't great, like the a/c, but I feel that Parkview is a wonderful school for students to attend.

To many kids leave this school unable to read or do basic math. The teachers are here for a paycheck and could care less about the quality of education they teach. Worse of all are the consulors, who offer little advise to the majority of students. All of the above reflects the poor adminstration of the springfield school system.

I am a student here, and have been, I'm going on my second year. I think that this school is rather poor when it comes to teachers and good envornment, as of now there are budgit cuts, wich means less teachers, in the majority of the classes there are 30-40 students per classroom, and that is without any type of cooling system, ao as you could imagin it is very hot in the building, and plus it being mostly made of larg glass windows. As far as the teachers go they most of them would be wonderful teachers exsept for the fact that most of them cant get the kids in the class to behave no matter what they do, some classes get so out of control the teachers have given up trying to teach them for the day, wich will make it harder to learn. The district does not know how to use money wise and spends it on things that are not needed rather than central cooling, or having enough to pay all the teachers so they dont get cut, if you are thinking about moveing to the Springfield school district, this is not where you want to be.
